LOL. Give me a break Mike, JW's go door to door everyday advertising Jesus.
This guy shows up at a convention, obviously trying to start something, knowing that most think he's an ex-JW and knows they won't talk to him. Plus, not answering him means neither yes or no. So all around, waste of 9 minutes and proves nothing.
When JW's go door to door and ask to read a scripture and the person at the door says "I'm not interested" then are those 'christians' not interested in the Bible? Hmm. Guess so.
Are you kidding me .... You know after all these studys of our organisation and the bible and our litterature that this guys only goal was to provoce the attendants. To make a hen out of a feather. I would like to hear your analyse of this action. Best regards Henrik
"Advertising Jesus"? For real? Why called Jehovah's Witnesses, then? Jehovah is not, and never has been, God's name. And Jesus said Christians were to be witnesses of him (Acts 1:8).
It's easy to say that you "advertise Jesus", but in reality you don't; you advertise, advertise advertise Jehovah and the Kingdom.
Mark Hunter, Jehovah is the most common name to call the God of the Bible. You can call him YHWH or Yahweh. The fact is you don't call on him at all.
JW's whole ministry is in the steps of Jesus. Not only do we advertise Jesus, we do our best to walk in his footsteps, imitating the way HE preached, the way HE taught.
If being more correct about names was really important to you, you wouldn't stop at Jehovah. Why not call Jesus by his 'real' name Yeshua? Or use the Hebrew equivalent? Or how about just be inconsistant with your beliefs. That seems to work for you.
Maybe a JW posting here can explain to me how the latest WT (just posted on jw.org) is not blasphemous (sorry, I know this is off topic). How is the Governing Body not placing themselves as the required mediator between us and Jesus, while he serves as mediator between them and God? Where does the Bible speak of such a mediator and when did God grant them such authority? If he did not, it is by definition blasphemy in that they are claiming it.

You're missing the point; it's the name Jesus, or Yeshua, that has been given for mankind's salvation; not Jehovah, YHWH or Yahweh.

Did Jesus teach that following Governing Body was, in fact, following him? YES/NO
Did Jesus teach that reading literature written by the Governing Body you were, in fact, reading God's own words? YES/NO
Did Jesus teach that it's impossible to have a relationship with God without first recognising the Governing Body? YES/NO
It's important to answer these questions truthfully. Please see the September 2010 Study Edition Watchtower for the answers. Then please come back and re-read your statement about preaching and teaching and walking like Jesus.
