Addressing some questions about Kingdom Hall meetings

My friend Brock made a good video in addressing some questions about what goes on at Kingdom Hall meetings that i'd like to share with you all. If you are unfamiliar with Jehovah's Witnesses and would like to know more about what goes on inside those strange buildings with no windows (there's actually a reason for that, believe it or not), this video is worth checking out. Though I wish an active JW would make a video like this, Brock is an experienced ex-JW and does a good job of explaining these things. I'd also recommend subscribing to his YOUTUBE CHANNEL, as he is very good at explaining Watchtower history and doctrine.

those strange buildings with no windows (there's actually a reason for that, believe it or not)

1. ease of building - most Kingdom Halls are constructed over the course of one or two weekends by volunteers.

2. ease of upkeep - windows are a frequent target for vandalism and a potential spot for maintenance issues.

3. Who needs em? Modern exterior treatments make possible an attractive building without windows to break up walled areas.

4. Who needs em? A Kingdom Hall might be likened to a classroom, Bible applications being the topic of study. When I attended some courses in the local community college, I noted there wasn't a window to be found in any classroom. No one thought it sinister.

Nonetheless, where a congregation insists on windows they can generally get them. Thus, there is a KH in the nearby rurals with windows galore. 'We had to fight for them,' however, notes a local brother.

lol, thanks for the witty response Tom. As a matter of fact, that was the first question I asked the JW's when I began my study with them a few years ago. Its really funny looking back and how my perception has changed. Initially, I thought not having windows was some kind of secret cult thingy that JW's did. And though I look back on this and laugh, it does clear up the reasons as to why people who would maybe otherwise visit a kingdom hall would be a bit reluctant. I know I was! Now, I have no problem walking into any kingdom hall, knowing that i'll be warmly greeted (that is, until they see my blog, lol).

Agreed. The blog might cool things down a bit.
