Recent encounter with a Jehovah's Witness

Today I had the privilege of meeting up with a Jehovah's Witness friend of mine. Just shared a little before and after:

I get the impression you think a great deal of yourself. Have you thought considered an attempt at humility? Maybe you actually don't know everything, could that be the case, or are you satisfied with being perceived as an arrogant young man. I cannot picture our Lord and Savior speaking as you speak, of course, he was perfect and not as amazing as you!

I have spoken with Mike a number of times, both on and off the record, and I have not gotten the impression that Mike thinks a great deal of himself. You might claim I'm biased because I agree with his positions, but the same could be true of you; you may be biased because you don't agree with his positions.

So your suggestion that Mike has not attempted to be humble is a subjective one with no basis. The gospel is an offense to unbelievers, and we often react emotionally to the gospel, not because it wasn't spoken in humility, but because we suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

Mike, just so you know I prayed for you before your meeting.

1. I do not think greatly of myself, which is why at the end of the video I stressed that God doesn't need me.

2. I have thought a lot about humility and certainly seek to model my life after Christ. However, I am a sinner and will never measure up. If you could point out specifically where I need to be more humble, i'm completely open to rebuke and correction. I'll just need specifics so that I can prayerfully consider it.

3. I am not satisfied with being perceived as arrogant. Again, i'm not quite sure what was arrogant in what I said, so you'll have to be specific.

4. As for Jesus, I think he was far more stern than I could ever be. But certainly not arrogant.

Is your criticism based upon the fact that I view the Jehovah's Witnesses as a false religion and i'm seeking to share my faith with them? Wouldn't this be what 2 Tim. 2:23-26 would have me do?

Pardon the pseudo-spam but FYI:
I just posted scanned pages from a JW book which (at least used to) tell them to worship Jesus:

Keep up the good work and the God work!

I didn't watch the video, but Mike, I called and left a message and you never answered. I said, "answer the phone in 5 mins" when I called back. And yet, I get that lousy voice message. I hate answering machines or recorded messages.

I used to have a soap box on the net before it got popular with blogs, but now I am forced to keep it to myself, share it only with my personal friends or now with my peeps here at the ApologeticFront.

Mike, I would love to discuss the simplicity of the Bible with you. I think you make it too hard.

@anonymous, the number you called is strictly a voicemail service. Leaving my personal phone number all over the internet would be a big no-no. The only way for us to talk would be to leave your number on the voicemail, or you can email it to me if you want.

I'd be happy to discuss the simplicity of the Bible with you as well.

Yeah, like I would give you my number.

I thought that's the whole point of this deal, that you are accessable to share your gospel. Again, you're making everyone else do the work.

@anonymous, how else could it work? I mean, I could email you my personal number, but you'd still have to call me? Would you like to do it that way?

And I find it amazing that you're actually complaining about this. How many others on the internet are making themselves available in this way? Since you are keen on remaining anonymous, would you like to talk via Skype? I'm trying to open the options here.

No Skype, and I don't want to be recorded. Unlike you, I don't want to be glorified by my words.

You can't believe I am complaining? C'mon Mikey! Just post your number on these little comments pages. I mean really, you probably have like 12 people who view this page. Worried about having your phone lines tied up or what?

Dude, I don't even know how to record on Skype. And i'm not posting my personal number on the internet. Even giving it to an anonymous person via email is pushing it, but i'm willing to.

I'm not going to argue about this. If you'd like to talk, i've offered several avenues for doing so. If you don't want to talk through any of these, then don't.

You don't have to be rude about it. I tried calling you. You obviously don't want to talk. I understand.
